Beal University’s Health Information Management Program Receives Initial Accreditation for Seven Years

Beal University is proud to announce that its Health Information Management (HIM) Baccalaureate Degree Program has been awarded Initial Accreditation for Seven Years by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The accreditation was granted following a comprehensive program review conducted by the Health Information Management Accreditation Council and the CAHIIM Board of Directors.

The vote to award initial accreditation to Beal University’s HIM program took place on February 16, 2024. This accreditation underscores the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established CAHIIM 2018 Health Information Management Accreditation Standards.

Nearly 600 attacks on healthcare in Gaza and West Bank since war began: WHO

Some 613 people have died within health facilities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 7 October last year – 606 in Gaza and seven in the West Bank – and more than 770 have been injured, according to latest data on healthcare attacks from the World Health Organization ( WHO).

Condemning the continuing fighting and bombardment, WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said that the “ongoing reduction of humanitarian space plus the continuing attacks on healthcare are pushing the people of Gaza to breaking point”.

Biden signs executive order to boost women’s health research

President Joe Biden signed an executive order Monday to expand research on women’s health care, including strengthening data standards.

The president also announced more than 20 new actions and commitments by federal agencies, including $200 million for research at the National Institutes of Health. The White House described the investments as a first step toward a “Fund on Women’s Health” that Biden called on Congress to invest in during his State of the Union address this month.

MIOSHA Awards Highest Workplace Safety and Health Recognition to Marathon Petroleum Corp. Niles Terminal

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) recognized Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s (MPC) Niles Terminal with the Michigan Voluntary Protection Program (MVPP) Star award.

As the most prestigious safety and health award given in the state, MPC’s Niles Terminal and Fleet Facility joins a group of 26 Michigan companies with current MVPP Star status.

MIOSHA’s Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division presented the MVPP Star award and plaque to Marathon Petroleum staff members in Niles on March 21.
